Plants
Bringing Commercial and Home Gardens to Life
Can you imagine a world without plants? We can’t. Aside from the joy they bring to all of us, plants perform necessary functions for our world to survive: food for us and the animal kingdom; shelter for wildlife; climate control; air and soil purification; erosion control; lumber; medicines; natural insecticides; textiles, and so much more, including the beautification of our yards, patios and homes.
Our ornamental and edible plants are sourced from leading growers in California and Oregon, to provide you with high quality products for your yard and gardens to thrive and flourish. We stock classic, timeless and heirloom varieties, as well as new, interesting and unique plants.

Annuals
Annuals are flowers that complete their life cycle within one year. They give virtually nonstop pops and bursts of color throughout an entire season. We carry a large variety of standard spring/summer annuals such as petunias, marigolds, zinnias, and more, plus unusual and flowers from Annie’s Annuals.
For winter color, we stock a broad palette of pansies, violas, primroses, and others. Annuals are great for container gardening, spot fill-ins, and mass plantings.
Bulbs
Nothing says “spring” quite like bunches of yellow daffodils or red tulips popping up through the ground. Plant spring-blooming bulbs in fall for surprises after winter. Great in containers or in-ground plantings and wonderful when used under winter annuals such as pansies.
We also carry a wide array of summer flowering bulbs to be planted in early spring, such as dahlias, anemones, and gladiolas.
Fruit Trees, Citrus & Berries
Is there anything more delicious than biting into a fresh peach dripping with juice picked from your own tree? At Central Valley, we carry an impressive variety of deciduous from Dave Wilson Fruit Growers, from apples to cherries, to peaches and pears, and many others. The best selection is in January and February, when our bare root trees arrive, as well as other fruits such as raspberries, blueberries, strawberries and rhubarb.
We also carry a wide selection of California-grown citrus trees, from the ever-popular Improved Meyer Lemon to limes, oranges, kumquats, and others.
Grasses & Bamboo
Grasses provide color, texture, and gentle movement in the wind to the California landscape. From the low-growing intense Beyond Blue Fescue to the classic Purple Fountain Grass, to the whimsical Bunny Tails, there are grasses for every style. Bamboos are excellent fast-growing grass relatives, from miniatures that top out at two feet, to the Giant Timber Bamboo that towers thirty feet or more. Some varieties can be useful as statements in containers, and some as natural screens.
Houseplants
Bring the jungle indoors with tropical houseplants! Check out our constantly changing selection of tropicals, from classics such as pothos, spider plants, orchids, and dracaenas, to unique plants such as a cinnamon bark tree, an autograph tree, and bug devouring Venus Fly Traps. Fun fact: Did you know that certain houseplants can pull toxins out of the air? Another reason to ‘green up’ your living spaces.
Native & Drought Tolerant
California natives are natural-born water-wise plants, as in nature they have to survive our long, hot, dry summers with little moisture is left in the ground. Add some beauty with plants such as California Lilac, and Manzanita. Other excellent drought-tolerant plants are native to our Southwest, Australia, and South Africa where they have to exist on minimal moisture. Another plus is that many of the drought-tolerant and native plants are deer and rabbit resistant.
Perennials
Perennials are plants that can come back year after year with fresh growth and seasonal flowering. From spring bloomers such as daylilies, candytuft, and peonies, to summer blooming agapanthus, Echinacea, and lantanas, to fall-blooming anemones, there are hundreds of perennials to have rotational color nearly year-round.
Roses
Roses are, and have been for centuries, the classic flowers for the garden. With over 15,000 varieties that have been cultivated, who can argue their popularity. We carry classic roses such as white Icebergs, Mr. Lincoln, and Queen Elizabeth, to the newest hybrids from the top California rose grower, Weeks Roses, as well as the unique English roses from the renowned David Austin collection. Best availability is in the winter and spring, so shop early.
Seeds
There is something magical about placing a dry and seemingly lifeless seed in the soil, watering it, and then watching as a new plant pushes its way through the surface. Seed starting is a rewarding and money-saving way to get vegetables and flowers going for your gardens. It is also an excellent way to introduce children to the joys of plant growing. We carry a nice selection of seeds from Renee’s Garden and Cornucopia Organics.
Shrubs
Shrubs form the foundation of a landscape, and they come in many shapes, sizes, forms---both evergreen and deciduous. They have a variety of uses: from formal hedges and barriers, structural focal points, and permanent green or flowering accents for both the sunny and the shade gardens. We carry a broad range of evergreen plants year-round such as boxwood, privet, and azaleas, and then seasonal bloomers such as lilacs and spirea.
Succulents
Succulents are nature’s water storage units, being able to go for months without water in their native habitats. In fact, the word ‘succulent’ means having water-storing leaves and stems. Coming in a dazzling spectrum of colors, unique shapes and structures, and sizes, these plants make stunning container gardens and structural additions to the drought-tolerant garden.
Trees
Trees are the backbone of a landscape, providing shade, privacy, and focal points to the ornamental garden and yard. From small patio trees to towering coastal redwoods, from evergreens to colorful blooming crape myrtles and shade-loving Japanese Maples, from strictly ornamental to fruit-bearing, we have trees for every application and use.
Vegetables & Herbs
Is there anything that can compare to the flavor of a freshly picked tomato from the garden? At Central Valley, we stock hundreds of seasonal vegetables and herbs such as heirloom tomatoes, peppers, squash, cucumbers, beans, melons, and many others for the summer garden, and also lettuces and greens and all the cool-season vegetables to carry your gardening through the winter months.
Water Plants
There is a certain tranquility and peacefulness with a water garden, whether it be a small patio container garden or a pond with a stream and a waterfall. Come check out and get inspired with our seasonal water garden plants and flowers, such as water lilies, lotus, cat tails, gingers, and water hyacinths. And while you are here, pick up a few free mosquito fish to keep your water garden pest-free.
Vines
Vines provide fast-growing solutions to soften the appearance of a fence or concrete wall, to climb trellises, and climb over arbors and pergolas. From climbing roses to fragrant jasmines, to spectacular wisterias, to edible grapes, we have vines for every application.
